Who we are

About us

Since its establishment in 1996, Karin Dom has been one of the first organisations to introduce and spread therapeutic methods and approaches that were little known in the country but internationally proven, for working with “special” children and their families. This was made possible with the help of specialists with extensive practical experience from the United Kingdom, who over the years trained our entire team not only in therapeutic methods but also in the fundamental principles and values of our work – respecting children’s rights, a team approach, partnership with parents, empathy, and a smile.

Through our training activities, we disseminate the Karin Dom model of work both nationally and internationally.

MISSION AND VISION

The direction we work towards

Our mission is for more and more children with special needs and their families across the country to have access to affordable and high-quality services, enabling full inclusion. We work towards changing attitudes towards children with special needs and train the professionals who work with them in proven best practices that deliver results.

Through our training activities, we introduce applicable and innovative methods and approaches into the practice of specialists, teachers, parents, students, medical professionals, social workers, assistants, and other interested parties. These approaches improve the quality of life for children with special needs and their families.

Values and principles

  • Focus on early childhood development and early intervention
  • Working with children and families through a family-oriented approach and partnership with parents
  • Supporting children with complex and intensive needs, facilitating their participation
  • Emphasising the rights of children and families and empowering parents
  • Providing quality training for professionals in education, social services, and healthcare across Bulgaria
  • Disseminating innovative, practically oriented methods and approaches developed by Karin Dom

What our partners say

For me, practice is fundamental

Marcela Petrova, Director of Kindergarten No. 43 “Iglika”, Varna

“For me, practice is primary and fundamental. What will remain with me first are the many friendships with significant professionals from your team. Another thing that will stay with me are the practices we were able to observe here on site. I have taken many ideas and brought them to the kindergarten. Thank you, colleagues!”
