Early Diagnosis

Screening for children aged 0 to 8 years

The period of early childhood development is dynamic but extremely important for the acquisition of new knowledge and skills by the child. Early diagnosis and support are fundamental for the child’s development and provide an opportunity for rapid learning and compensation of delays in early age.

To participate in screening, no medical referral is required, only the completion of a consultation request form.

  • The goal is to establish the abilities and skills the child has mastered or needs support with.
  • The assessment is conducted by a clinical psychologist with many years of experience working with children.
  • The service is free for children aged 0 to 8 years.

The service is implemented under the project “Comprehensive and Integrated Early Support for Children with Special Needs and Their Families to Improve Their Well-being and Reduce the Risk of Social Exclusion.”

The funding is under the “Human Resources Development” program.

Not a Diagnosis

Early detection of delays or deviations in the child’s development

The purpose of the service is to create a profile of the child’s development, which will show parents and specialists the child’s strengths and whether additional support is needed.

Screening and assessment of child development is not a diagnosis. It is a tool through which the parent can find an answer to the question, “Is there reason for concern about my child’s development?”

Parents are involved in the process

How does the screening and assessment of child development take place?

Screening can take two forms: direct observation by a specialist or a questionnaire completed by the parent. Through play, specialists try different activities with the child and show the parent the skills the child has acquired or needs to develop. Play during the process, in the presence of the parent, helps the child feel comfortable and reduces tension. Parents and caregivers are involved in the process.

After the questionnaires are completed and processed by the specialist, parents receive feedback on the results and guidance on the next steps.
