“Full and Comprehensive Early Support for Children with Special Needs and Their Families to Improve Their Well-being and Reduce the Risk of Social Exclusion” Project

Karin Dom launched the project: “Full and complex early support for children with special needs and their families to improve their well-being and reduce the risk of social exclusion” under the “Human Resources Development” program 2021-2027, procedure: Future for children.

The project is financed by: program “Human Resources Development”, procedure BG05SFPR002-2.003 “Future for Children” and co-financed by European Social Fund+.

Description:

The project offers services, activities, events and measures aimed at complex care for children with special needs 0-8 years, support for families, quality education and increasing the capacity of specialists. Through professional support and guidance to parents, information campaigns to increase the health culture, development of a program of preparation for inclusion in the educational system, screening and diagnostics for the purpose of prevention of falling behind, Montessori groups for children with special needs to prepare for a successful transition and educational inclusion, as well as by increasing the capacity of specialists working with children and families. The ultimate goal of the project is to provide prerequisites for increasing children’s well-being and reducing the risk of social exclusion.

Objectives:

• To address significant issues and challenges of early childhood development, support for children with special needs and their families, and the sustainability of social and educational services offered in the community.
• Early guidance, information and support are the basis of the planned project activities. Support programs: Early Intervention program, guidance events for parents where they will receive information and will learn skills, psychological support and motivation to cope with life situations and support their child’s development.
• Prevention of falling behind by introducing activities for early detection of developmental delay and its support, such as screening, diagnostics and activities in a baby bath, and by including children in group activities, work will be done to acquire independence and adaptive skills that will help their socialization.
• Empowerment of parents – the project focuses on them as the main driver in the therapy of their children.

Activities (key moments):

I. Promotion of socio-economic integration through awareness initiatives, programs for inclusion in the educational system and measures to increase health culture.

II. Early childhood development services – early intervention for children with disabilities, prevention of stunting, family counseling and support.

III. Provision of preventive and supportive services through early screening, diagnosis and therapeutic support.

IV. Trainings of Karin Dom specialists to upgrade competencies and sustainable support in early childhood development services.
