Support for the Child and the Family in Bulgaria and Iceland – a Seminar on the Topic United over 50 Specialists and Parents
During the seminar “Support for the Child and the Family in Bulgaria and Iceland. Comparative Analysis”, which our team held online on 29th January, a comparative analysis of the way the health, education and social systems work in the treatment of children with special needs and their families, developed by specialists from Karin Dom, was presented.

More than 50 participants took part in the seminar – specialists, parents, students, representatives of institutions, representatives of civil society organizations. The interest to the topic was huge due to the importance of the presented comparative analysis not only for the project, but also for inclusive education in Bulgaria in the long run. Through benchmarking and good practices from Iceland, we have the opportunity to promote inclusive education and improve cross-sectoral cooperation.
Our specialists worked on the analysis together with the specialists from the partner organization in Iceland, who provided access to important normative, strategic, and other documents and materials, which were reviewed and analyzed. From now on, trainings for parents and specialists are still pending on our project.

The seminar is held under the project “Transfer of practices to improve support for children with special needs and their families for inclusive education”, funded by the Active Citizens Fund of Bulgaria under the EEA Financial Mechanism 2014-2021. A Project partner is State Diagnostic and Counseling Center (SDCC) ), Iceland.
