Early Intervention
The service is aimed at babies and young children from 0 to 3 years:
- who are at risk of falling behind in their development, including preterm and/or low-birth-weight children
- who have developmental delays in any of the areas of development – cognitive, social, emotional, speech and language, fine/gross motor skills
- who have a diagnosed condition
Our consultants will visit your home and help you understand more about the needs of your child and how to encourage its development. Together, you will plan activities that best meet the needs of the child and your family.
The Early Intervention team includes a physical therapist, speech therapists/ special educators, psychologist, pediatrician, social worker and lactation consultants.
Karin Dom’s Early Intervention Program was included in Unicef’s collection of best practices that help children under three years to grow up in safe and supportive family environment.
Karin Dom started the service in 2010, and by the end of Oktober 2019 a total of 897 children are included. It is very optimistic that 52% of all children who leave the program don’t need any extra therapy, specialized services or resource support at the kindergarten in the future.
Early Intervention Results
Our team work with an average of 65 families monthly, 40 of which the Municipality of Varna finances through municipal delegated activity. In 2018 OMV Bulgaria begins to support the Early Intervention Program.
