Karin Dom invites you to an online training on the topic: “Mental and Emotional Disorders in Childhood. Challenges in Practice”. The program was approved by order № RD09-1714 / 11.08.2020 of the Minister of Education and Science and provides 1 qualification credit.

When: June 2 and 3, 2022 online from 09:00 to 12:30 – practical work on an online assignment /work on case studies and online presentation and discussion/.

Who is it for: It is suitable for teachers, psychologists, speech therapists, special teachers, music teachers, educators, resource teachers, support staff, as well as for everyone working with children of preschool and primary school age.

Have you observed a strange child’s behavior in the class/group you work with? Not knowing what the cause is or how to react… Have you ever not known whether a certain child’s reaction age appropriate or not, whether it is appropriate and to which specialist to refer parents? Have you ever “scrolled” in your mind certain children’s reactions or words and to not know how to help the child… In this training we will support you to better understand the needs of children, as well as in building appropriate response skills.

The program examines the mental and emotional disorders of childhood faced by those working in the system of preschool and primary school education. It is a theoretical overview of: sleep and eating disorders, attachment disorders, functional enuresis, functional encopresis, tics, stereotyped movements, stuttering, night terrors and nightmares, as well as anxiety and depressive disorders in childhood. The program provides the necessary set of knowledge and skills to differentiate the individual conditions in practice, as well as gaining experience in the use and application of techniques and strategies to facilitate work with children and their parents. It is suitable for teachers, psychologists, speech therapists, special teachers, music teachers, educators, resource teachers, support staff, as well as for all people working with children of preschool and primary school age.

Trainers:

Virginia Vasileva – psychologist and trainer. Vergie is a certified ABA and PECS therapist. In 2017 she obtained a European certificate in psychotherapy. As a psychologist at Karin Dom, Vergi facilitates group and individual therapy with children with various disabilities using a family-oriented and family-mediated approach. She believes that in order for the the therapy to be successful, it should encompass the whole microworld of the child – family, kindergarten, therapists.

 

Nikoleta Yoncheva – Doctor of Speech Therapy, Bachelor of Special Education, Hearing and Speech Rehabilitation and Trainer at Karin Dom. Niki has experience in various innovative projects related to people with disabilities, which have been implemented both in the country and abroad. Her professional interests are in the areas of communication, eating and drinking, sign language, early childhood development and family-mediated intervention. She defended her PhD in Speech Therapy at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” on the topic: “Family-mediated early intervention in children with disabilities in functional communication and adaptive skills”.
