With the participants of the “My Message in My Language” project, we talked about different media, sources of information, their influence on us and how to look for the good news.
Veneta Mileva, Marketing and Fundraising Manager at Karin Dom, presented a presentation on Media Culture. We looked at the content of various articles, with what title they were published and how they were presented on social networks. We looked at the Fact Check site and how we can check the facts if a news item seems questionable to us.
Our guest was Denislava Nikolaeva, psychologist and lawyer by education, human resources consultant, communication skills and public presentations. We learned the difference between news that is based on facts and news that is made up of assumptions.
At the end of the meeting, the participants wrote their good news that they would like to see in the news or on social media.
On September 13, we visited BNR – Radio Varna with the participants of the “My Message in My Language!” project.
We were welcomed by Veselina Bozhinova, Editor-in-Chief of Radio Varna. We toured the halls of the radio and saw the equipment that was used years ago and now. BNR Radio Varna started its activity in 1934.
We got to meet a lot of the team and learned what their radio work entails. We learned how they fact-check a news story and what sources they consult. We talked together about the media culture in Bulgaria.
We thank Denislava Nikolaeva and Veselina Bozhinova for joining our project on the topic of Media Culture!
