Description:

The training modules are based on research in 8 European countries, for the needs of children with multiple disabilities, their parents and support teams. As part of our work together, we then decided to use the term complex and intensive support needs instead of multiple disabilities.

The needs of children and young people with complex needs are similar across EU member states. They have serious difficulties with communication, learning, mobility, feeding, dressing, self-care, social interaction. They often have health problems – epilepsy, respiratory, chronic diseases, challenging and difficult to understand behaviors, they need a lot of care and attention. All this makes inclusion in the comprehensive school and the community difficult.

The training modules we offer are aimed precisely at people working with children and young people with complex and intensive support needs and their parents. They are aimed at people who are convinced that change is possible for children and young people with special needs and are looking for ways to support them in this process.

In the training modules we will cover topics related to the human rights approach, the capabilities approach and the support paradigm shift. We will discuss opportunities to improve communication, to deal with challenging behaviors, to overall impact the quality of life. We have included modules related to the provision of meaningful learning activities, therapeutic approaches and art therapy. We will pay special attention to the activities of everyday life, to the care provided by parents and caregivers.

The training is interactive and we will expect the participants to take an active part in the discussions, in the work in groups, in the work on case studies. We will expect everyone to share moments from their practice and personal experience.

We will share video materials from the exchange with other European countries, we will look at case studies, we will observe and analyze together, we will look for opportunities for development and solutions to specific situations, we will identify and comment on possible goals and tasks for an individual support plan, with the participation of parents and collaboration between services in the community. We will work on the roadmap for integrating care and education as a step towards social inclusion.

Fee: The training is funded by project and is free for participants.

REGISTRATION IS CLOSED DUE TO FULL CAPACITY!

To participate in the trainings, please fill out the registration form. The seats are limited. It is desirable that each participant joins from a separate device, given the interactivity of the training.

Dear parents and colleagues, we are expecting you!

The training is carried out in implementation of the project “Transfer of Practices to Improve Support for Children with Special Needs and Their Families for Inclusive Education”, financed by the Bulgaria Active Citizens Fund under the Financial Mechanism of the EEA 2014-2021.
