Parent-on-call training

On February 16, 2013 at Karin Dom a training Parent-on-call was held with the participation of parents of children with special needs and the social workers from Karin Dom Centre. Tutors of the training were Zhana Angelova from ALA Association  and Sevdjihan Eyubova, clinical psychologist from Shoumen hospital who shared their experience in developing parent-on-call network for support of children with cleft lip and palate and their parents.

This was the first of trainings aimed at preparing parents to engage in early intervention activities for children with variety of conditions. They will support other parents in difficult moments after learning about the diagnosis, handling the challenges in their life cycle and the everyday routines.

The training was focused on the role of the parent-on-call, awareness of their own motivation, the listening skills and the possible emotional reactions in the process of support.

 The second training module is expected to take place in April.
