On the 22nd of November at the seminar hall of Karin Dom a work meeting for discussing the bill for new Child law took place. It was one of a series of meetings organized by the National Network for Children. In addition to the members of the network in the discussion took part representatives of municipal and state institutions, non governmental organizations and social services providers from other Bulgarian towns – Targovishte, Razgrad, Ruse, Antonova, Shumen, Dobrich.
The bill restricts the accommodation of children in the 0-3 age group in institutions. Attention is devoted to the topics of adoptive care and providing of adequate support not only for families from certain risk groups but for each family which needs such support.
The participants in the meeting had the opportunity to discuss different chapters from the bill for new Child law and to offer suggestions for changes in the text – adding or removing parts from it and other fundamental improvements.
The ideas and suggestions that were gathered during the meeting will be summarized by the National Network for Children and brought to the attention of the committee that is in charge of the law-making process.
