We Are Expanding Our Partner Network for Sharing Experience And Knowledge

31 May 2021

In June 2019, we started our work on the project “Karin Dom – the next 20 years” – the establishment of a basic training center and center for services for social inclusion and independent living of children with special needs and their families, funded by the VELUX Foundations.

On March 10 2021 we held an online partnership meeting with the public organization “Yenme” from Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. During the meeting we exchanged experiences regarding the model of support and therapy for children on the autistic spectrum. Director Gulya Choreklieva joined on behalf of the Turkmen organization. Yenme is a specialized organization for social assistance to vulnerable groups – children with special needs, children with various categories of disabilities, women, the elderly, large families and others.

During the meeting we outlined specific directions for cooperation.

Our colleagues from Turkmenistan expressed interest and desire to receive several days of online training and follow-up supervision on the methods and tools that Karin Dom uses to assess and treat children on the autistic spectrum. The first steps in this direction have already been made. Our team sent a sample training program “FOR CHILDREN WITH AUTISM – THROUGH THE EYES OF SPECIALISTS”. We plan to conduct a series of online trainings related to the program at the end of July 2021. We are glad that our work model is recognized and appreciated by organizations outside of Bulgaria.

On March 2 2021 we held a meeting with the team of the Neurofeedback Diagnostic Center, during which we discussed our possibilities for a partnership in the future. In the face of Karin Dom the team of Neurofeedback professionals recognized a future training partner in several important areas:

  • Sensory motor activities for children with special needs;
  • Building a supportive environment;
  • Communications with nonverbal children;
  • Strategies and techniques for dealing with challenging behavior.

On May 13 and 14, the Neurofeedback team took part in Karin Dom’s training in sensory-motor activities.

The partnership with the diagnostic center is a good opportunity for Karin Dom to include an additional method for diagnosis and monitoring the effectiveness of the proposed therapy in the new center we are building.
