Karin Dom invites you to an on-site training on the topic: “Massage Techniques and Stimulation of Facial, Oral and Articulatory Motility”. The training is suitable for speech therapists, hearing and speech rehabilitators and other specialists working with speech and language disorders.

Description:

Specialized training course aimed at professionals working with children of early, pre-school and primary school age. A minimum of 6 months of previous practical experience in the field of diagnosis and therapy of children and persons with developmental and neurologically based disorders and diseases would be of benefit for the participants.

The training in the program is organized in three modules:

• Theoretical part;
• Training demonstrations;
• Individual practice and supervision.

The theoretical module presents the current therapeutic techniques for stimulation and massage of the face and oral structures. Mechanisms of impact on tissues, bones and joints that affect sensory processing, muscle tone, organization and control of oral motor and speech movements are explained. Massage and stimulation techniques with hands, massagers and other specialized tools are presented.

The demonstrations are a practical training in the application of massage and stimulation techniques, as well as the use of different types of massagers and tools. The correct positions, timing and technique of applying pressure are demonstrated and tested by the participants. The use of massagers, devices and speech therapy probes of Blaniko, ARK Therapeutic, TalkTools and others is trained. Different algorithms are demonstrated for planning the therapeutic impact against the planned strategies and goals. An opportunity is provided for video analysis of real cases and practical training for your own experience.

In the Individual practice and supervision part, participants must present their practice case through history, video recording (optional), diagnosis and therapeutic plan. Each case is discussed and additional guidelines are given to optimize the therapeutic activity.

Trainer:

Svetlana Kartunova has a master’s in speech therapy and typhlopedagogue with interests and over 25 years of practice in the field of early intervention, the processes of sensory integration and processing, nutrition and interactions. She has dozens of certificates in the field of sensory-integrative, oral-motor therapy, etc. She is also a lactation consultant and certified to assist with feeding problems in infants and children.
