Between 17th and 19th October 2012 at Karin Dom has been conducted an Early intervention training with lecturer Judy Newman, Director and Co-founder of Early Childhood CARES programme which provides early intervention and early childhood special education to infants, toddlers and preschool age children in Oregon, USA.
Subject of the training was Early intervention as a support system for children and families in the community.
The strong interest in early intervention brought together many professionals working in the area of providing services for children and their families. Among the 38 participants were representatives of non-governmental organizations, municipalities and state institutions from 13 cities in Bulgaria. Some of them already provide early intervention services and others have yet to begin the development of EI services.
The participants in the training took part in discussions, examined different case studies and were able to watch a number of videos explaining the role of the consultant in early childhood intervention, the ‘technology’ of conducting home visits, etc.
Karin Dom would like to thank Judy Newman for her wonderful attitude and presentations, for all the information, ideas and experience she shared with the participants in the training!
This training was conducted with the financial support of the Open Society Foundation – London.
