Babies born before gestation week 37 are considered premature

From 38 years the baby is considered full-term and ready for life outside the mother’s womb. The earlier the baby is born, the higher the risk of short-term and long-term health complications. There are 3 phases of prematurity. Babies born earlier than 28 years are defined as extremely premature. Between 28 years and 32 years old we are talking about a high degree of prematurity, and between 33 and 37 years of age – for moderate to late prematurity.

1 in 10 babies is born prematurely.

Karin Dom’s initiative takes place on the occasion of the World Day of Premature Children and aims at prevention and early diagnosis. The team’s goal is to reach more children and introduce early childhood intervention services to families with children up to 3 years old who are facing the challenge.

The consultations are free of charge and are financed by the project “Full and comprehensive early support for children with special needs and their families to improve their well-being and reduce the risk of social exclusion” of Karin Dom, financed by the Program “Human Resources Development”.
