“Smile Karin Dom”: A Festival with a Cause Managed to Bring Together Varna Citizens

For a third year in a row the green and sunny garden of Karin Dom in Varna turned into a magic place and offered entertainment for the whole family – playground, trampoline and workshops for the youngest, crafts and farmers’ market, picnic areas, culinary delights, barbeque and craft beers. An open stage gathered famous opera and rock singers, young musicians, dancers, actors, children clubs. We hosted a variety of ateliers and sports activities, where children and adults took part.

But what makes Smile Karin Dom unique is its main idea: a festival with a cause. The funds donated by our partners and the income from the festival (entrance fee, lottery, workshops, ateliers, and 10% out of all purchased products) is used for the therapy of children with special needs who visit Karin Dom.

“Thanks to all visitors and partners, this year the financial results exceeded our expectations. The net amount Karin Dom gathered through this event, was 39 428 leva which was a great success and surpassed the funds collected in the previous two years.” – said Mariana Nikolova, executive director of Karin Dom.

Thanks to these funds Karin Dom will keep financing two groups for children with special needs. These are Smile group for children with complex and intense support needs, named after the festival, and Little+ group for youngest children with communication delays and autistic spectrum disorders.

We wish to thank everybody for being with us and for supporting our efforts to organize and accomplish this big charity event, the Smile Karin Dom Festival! We are proud with a wonderful festival, with lots of fun, smiles and shared moments. We had a great event that brought together many people from Varna and won even more supporters for the future. We are sure that together we will continue to influence life of many children and families in Bulgaria.
