Project for Creation of a Space for Social Support, Funded by the Social Protection Fund

“Creation of a space for social support – an innovative and modern opportunity for education and social integration of children with special needs, their peers and families”, funded by the Social Protection Fund – a secondary state spending unit to the Minister of Labor and Social Policy, created under art. 25 of the Social Assistance Act.

Project goal:

In the period April 2021 – March 2022 Karin Dom Foundation built a new therapeutic and training center in Varna, where from September 2022 the activity of the organization will also be moved. The team of architects working in Germany, selected through an international competition, created a modern high-quality environment, fully consistent with the nature of the social services provided by the organization. The project aims to build a space for providing social and educational services for children, parents and professionals. The space will be compliant with the requirements for accessibility and universal design of the elements of the accessible environment in an urbanized area and of buildings and facilities in accordance with Ordinance №RD-02-20-2 of 26.01.2021.

The architectural design includes linoleum as a natural ecological material, which is characterized by comfort, durability, antibacterial and sound insulation properties. Installing linoleum will contribute to creating a cozy and safe environment for children and adults. As a result of the project we will have the opportunity to complete the construction of this modern space in which Karin Dom will support the development of children with special needs, empower professionals and parents, and provide training for inclusive education, change of attitudes and tolerance, civic and social skills, etc.
