Sponsored Bike Ride England – Bulgaria for Karin Dom

Tim’s always wanted to cycle from his home in England to his home in Sofia, Bulgaria and he’s almost there!

Having met Mariana Nikolova, former British Council colleague and currently the Director of Karin Dom, Tim decided to make this a sponsored ride for Karin Dom. The Centre helps children with special needs through play and creative activities, and supports their families by training to help them cope with everyday challenges. The main funding comes from project grants and donations and the staff of Karin Dom find themselves heavily burdened with fundraising activities and project proposal development when they could be training and helping.

The whole distance of the bike ride of about 3000 km was divided into two stretches Leek-Prague (when Tim cycled in a group of 5) and then Prague-Sofia (cycling solo). The itinerary is as follows: 

Leek – Huddersfield – Askrigg-Newscastle – Ijmuiden – Kleve – Nottuln – Wewelsburg – Kassel – Eschwege – Tambach – Dietharz – Konigsberg – Bamberg – Marianske Lazne – Roztoky – Prague – Tabor – Moravske Budejovice – Kyjоv – Uhersky Brod – Topolcany – Komarno – Godollo – Kiskunfelegyhaza – Szeged – Zrenjanin – Bela Crkva – Orsova – Vidin – Dimovo – Sofia.
