Supporting of teachers in kindergartens is part of the mission of Karin Dom. From 8 to 10 September at the invitation of UNICEF, our training team participated in the seminar, intended for professionals. Effective strategies were discussed to support teachers in kindergartens to build an inclusive educational environment. Leading speaker on training was Dr. Geraldine Scanlon lecturer at the University in Dublin, Ireland, which has many years of experience in the area of inclusive education. The training is part of the activities included in the initiative “Together since kindergarten”, which is now implementing on the territory of the regions of Shumen, Sliven, Montana and Sofia – city with the support of UNICEF Bulgaria and in partnership with the Ministry of education and science, Regional educational departments, Regional support centres for inclusive education, Municipalities and kindergartens.
Some of the topics covered in the seminar were: the identification of the individual needs of the child; educational and social profiles of children with disabilities; specifics of behavior and principles of supporting; development of individual training and behavioral plans and early education program. Among the participants of the training were: representatives of the Ministry of education and science, regional educational departments, Regional support centres for inclusive education, non-governmental organizations, training organizations, experts and academics.
Karin Dom’s team continues to support teachers in kindergartens and has already begun preparing for upcoming trainings of its colleagues.
