Karin Dom Honored the Children’s Ambassadors with “Ivan Stancioff” Awards

Donors, volunteers, benefactors and advocates for the rights of children with special needs were awarded at an exciting ceremony in Varna.

On October 30th, Karin Dom awarded donors, volunteers and advocates for the rights and well-being of children in our country with prizes inspired by the work of Ivan Stancioff for the second year in a row. The awards were presented by last year’s award winners at a ceremony in Roslin Dimyat Hotel Varna.

The guests were welcomed by Antoaneta Ivanova, Executive Director of Karin Dom, who thanked all partners and friends who support children with special needs and are their Ambassadors. The host of the event was Nikolaos Tsitiridis, and a chamber string orchestra from the “Dobri Hristov” National School of Arts joined in with a wonderful musical program.

The annual charity event of Karin Dom – “Ivan Stancioff” awards was held under the motto “Be an Ambassador for Children” and honored both companies and individuals, as well as educational institutions, that have contributed to the Children’s Fund of Karin Dom and the policies for children in our country.

Karin Dom’s Children’s Fund in support of children with special needs provides complex effective therapy tailored to the needs of each child, support and training for parents, as well as preparation for inclusion in kindergarten and school. Last year, thanks to the funds collected in the Fund, 32 children received therapy and social services, and the capacity of Karin Dom allows their number to be doubled in 2025.

Ivan Stancioff Awards 2024

This year’s winners of the Ivan Stancioff award for responsible business and partner for the sake of children are two companies:

OMV Bulgaria – OMV Bulgaria has been supporting children with special needs in Karin Dom for more than 15 years. The award is also a sign of appreciation for the wonderful initiative “Martenitsa with a Cause”. The national charity campaign on the occasion of Baba Marta was also held this year at gas stations throughout the country with the cause of the Children’s Fund for the therapy of children at Karin Dom. The initiative is a wonderful example of a partnership that effectively supports the therapy of children in Bulgaria.

The award was received by Veselin Vasilev, regional representative of OMV Bulgaria.

Danon Serdika Ltd. – the award is a sign of gratitude for the dedication of Danon Serdika Ltd., which for more than 10 years has been providing children with special needs in Karin Dom with quality and healthy dairy products. The award went to Tsvetelina Georgieva.

“Ivan Stancioff” Award for volunteer initiatives in support of the children from Karin Dom – the Bulgarian School “Ivan Stancioff” at the Embassy of Bulgaria in London. The award is for voluntary initiatives in support of the children of Karin Dom as a sign of gratitude for the dedication of the school team, children and parents who annually stand behind the cause of Karin Dom and support children with special needs through various initiatives in London. On their behalf, Veneta Mileva from the Karin Dom team received the award.

For support, long-term friendship and contribution to children in Bulgaria! “Ivan Stanchov” Award for contribution to policies for children – Prof. Ruzha Pancheva – Dimitrova, M.D., PhD. The award is in recognition of the development and sustainability of breastfeeding and feeding support activities for children with special needs, which is part of early childhood intervention policies.

The award is for the contribution to the introduction of feeding children with specific nutritional needs in children’s kitchens, nurseries and gardens in the municipality of Varna. It is also for all the efforts and expertise provided over the years to get payment for dietary foods for special medical purposes accepted by the NHIF.

“Ivan Stancioff” award for a volunteer – Vladislava Vidinova, artist and illustrator. Vladislava is an extremely dedicated volunteer who actively participates in Karin Dom’s campaigns with a lot of donated personal time and creative ideas. She supports Karin Dom’s social enterprise and publishing, as well as involvement in initiatives and events with a cause that the team organizes. Vladi is a volunteer at Karin Dom in Sofia, where she participates in events and bazaars.

Award for contribution to the well-being of children – Zhenislava Sapundzhieva. Zheni is part of the Karin Dom team. She is a specialist who has devoted 40 years of her professional experience to supporting children who are in a difficult life situation. Over 13 years, as a nurse caring for children without parental care in DMSDG. For 11 years, as a social psychologist, she conducted individual consultations with parents in Karin Dom. She is also the creator of the first parent groups for mutual help and support in 2000. For more than 15 years, she has been one of the senior trainers in the Karin Dom team, who shares her experience and trains others such as specialists, students, parents. Zhenislava Sapundjieva is one of the specialists who actively participates in the creation of innovative services for early intervention in Bulgaria, and participates in the writing of methodologies for their provision.
