Admission to the “Montessori Group” for Children from 6 to 7 Years Old with Special Educational Needs

Dear parents, “Montessori Group” for children with special educational needs in Karin Dom announces admission for children aged 6 to 7 years for a half-day form of study. A special teacher and an assistant teacher work with the children.

Karin Dom Foundation has a long-standing practice of working with children with special educational needs using the Maria Montessori method. Our long-term experience motivates us to organize afternoon activities for children with special educational needs for the 2023/2024 school year. The children’s classes are held in an excellently organized Montessori environment with original teaching materials and those made by the team. For the children in the group, a supporting afternoon snack of seasonal fruits is provided.

Karin Dom has adopted the Montessori model of work since 2001, trying to ensure the freedom of every child to develop their potential. The work of Montessori method specialists is supervised by Feodora Stanchov, a long-time expert in Montessori pedagogy in France.

Classes are organized in small groups, held on certain days of the week from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm in Karin Dom at 86A Tsar Osvoboditel Blvd. (behind the Health Fund).

Classes are based on classic Montessori pedagogy in a prepared, supportive Montessori environment.

The children’s program includes activities aimed at supporting development in the following areas:

• Practical life
• Sensory development
• Language and speech
• Mathematics
• Space training
• Maintaining children’s connection with nature

The play and study halls are fully designed according to the needs of the children and the requirements of Karin Dom. Montessori Group has a spacious activity hall and outdoor play areas. The furniture, the flooring and the overall environment are in sync with children’s perceptions. The environment is accessible, functional and ecological.

Criteria for admission of children to the group:

– children with special needs aged 6-7 years.

– with social skills in a peer group

– with basic skills or to assist in dressing, undressing, toilet sign

– with a need to develop communicative, cognitive and social skills.

Admission:

• Preliminary conversation with the parents and filling out an Application
• Examination with the Karin Dom team (with the leader of the group, a speech therapist and a psychologist).Examinations are held on Tuesdays at 10.30 am.
• An “Assessment of Needs” and an “Individual Support Plan” will be prepared for the children in the group
• The financing of the group is provided by the project activity of Karin Dom.

The service will be offered within the academic year with a break for the national and public holidays for Bulgaria, the days from Christmas to the first working day of the next calendar year, the days planned for the training of specialists in order to increase their qualifications.
