Training Invitation: Partnership with parents. Support groups – October 13th and 14th

We want to invite you to a training on the topic of “Partnership with Parents. The Karin Dom’s Organizing Experience and Support Group”

October 13th and 14th 2016, “Karin Dom” Foundation, Varna

The training is suitable for: psychologists, social workers, counselors, teachers, special teachers, directors of centers for social services for children, local services and other specialists working with children with special needs and their families.

Trainers: Jenislava Sapundjieva – social psychologist and Tsvetalina Yosifova – clinical psychologist, psychotherapist, support group trainer at Karin Dom.

Building partnership between parents and the specialists working with children with special needs, is an important and challenging task. In daily work the specialists meet the challenges in understanding fully the point of view of the parents, their worries, hope for change, to understand the behavior and motivation.

Overcoming those challenges will be helpful to the specialists to express their point of view, to interact with the families and include them in the therapeutic process.

Training goals:

• Building trust with the parents
• Motivating parents for a more successful partnership
• How to deal with the parents’ resistance and work with them
• How to overcome the barriers in communication and how to manage a conflict situation
• How to give support in difficult life situations
• What are the advantages of the family-centered approach – how to help the parents to develop and use their resources, how to help each other, to share experience, success and challenges

Practical advice for planning activities:
– organizing and leading support groups – group process
– developing confidence and skills within the parents in order to cooperate and contribute to the child’s therapeutic process
– giving help
– empowering families

At the end of the training, the participants will also acquire basic skills for organizing the group process /support groups/.

The seminar will use interactive methods and techniques: individual exercises, role playing, discussing cases.

The training event begins at 9:00 am on November 13, 2016
