Key highlights: Different types of arts and play formats support children in their self-expression, give them the opportunity to communicate with others, and express their abilities and feelings. Through art, the child’s individual characteristics are also discovered. In many cases a response to complex feelings is also obtained and their expression is achieved, which is a kind of relaxing element and is of direct importance in practice. In this way, the teacher/specialist will be able to organise their educational and therapeutic activity individually and purposefully in the direction of the given problem in each particular case.
Through children’s art activities from an early age, teachers, specialists and parents can also discover a number of talents and direct their efforts to their development and to the formation of various special abilities (including for various artistic activities) in children. It is also known that in the educational process with children and adolescents (whether they develop typically or have some difficulties) emotions and feelings have their definite and very significant place and role. Here again is the role of art in the development of the emotional sphere of the child’s personality, in the development of its aesthetic culture, in the formation of feelings and behaviour.
