Each year, the number of nursing mothers that join “The Big Latch On” event, is growing. Varna is participating for the third time in the initiative.
This year the event will take place at the Nursing Spot at the garden of Karin Dom on July 31st (Friday) at 10 a.m. The goal of the event is to improve the last year record of mothers, nursing their babies/children at the same time for 1 minute.
Main goals of The Big Latch On:
The Big Latch On takes place for the first time in New Zealand in 2005 as part of World Breastfeeding Week (every year between 1-7 of August). A group of nursing mothers gather at particular spots all around the world, at the same time and in the extent of 1 minute nurse their children. After that, the mothers are being counted by witnesses and the number for the whole world is being gathered. So this year we will try to break the last year record – 14 536 mothers, breastfeeding at the same time.
We all know how important breastfeeding is. Let’s show through this event that we appreciate its value for the future generations.
