Donation as a Tool that Supports Influential Causes and Helps Build Proactive Civil Society

Project Goals:

This project highlights the significance of charity as a way of life and as an important tool in support of major sustainable social and other causes that provide long-term benefits to local communities.

We intend to raise social awareness about charity by planning and conducting a number of activities and surveys. We would like to highlight the significance of charity as a high moral act and as a tool for positive change, development and innovation to the members of our community: sponsors, businesses, young people, public institutions, civil society organizations and citizens in general.

We are committed to engaging the entire community in the processes of change, emphasizing support through charitable initiatives and motivating corporate and individual charity as a significant tool for establishing a community culture of charity and sponsorship.

Project Activities:

We aim to analyze charity culture of business organizations and citizens, their motivation to support causes, and the challenges they face in their choice of a cause, along with other important questions.

We will complete this analysis by researching charity initiatives (both corporate and individual) in Varna and the region. We will create a strategy to attract corporate and individual sponsors, and we will organize and host a number of awareness-raising events to promote a local culture of charity, such as: public discussions, a regional conference on charity and inter-sector collaboration, events for sponsors in Varna and Sofia, training sessions for young people and a charitable campaign.

Project Deliverables:

• Once we complete the project activities, we anticipate to have raised awareness that we can use consistent charity to prevent crises and boost availability and accountability of social activities.
• Another specific project deliverable is engaging potential sponsors, volunteers, business organizations, local authorities and civil society organizations in charity towards the social inclusion of vulnerable groups in Bulgaria, a mission that Karin Dom deeply cherishes.
• We believe we will increase Karen Dom’s capacity to raise funds from both private and corporate sponsors and promote a culture of charity.
• Dissemination of good practices and deliverables from training conducted at Karin Dom Training Centre.
• The involvement in the NGO sector of 15-29-year-olds with innovative and bold ideas through the support of sponsors and partners who believe in the success of these young people’s projects.
• Promoting a positive outlook to charity among young people. Researching and creating effective fund-raising mechanisms.
• Establishing charity as an integral part of the culture and value system of society, both locally and regionally.
