Admission in Karin Dom
Procedures for reception and registration of new children at Karin Dom - Centre for Social Integration and Rehabilitation
The reception of new children is based on the recommendation from the Child Protection Department or specialists - if the children work with such - or on the will of the parents.
List of children, waiting for future reception is formed and children from the waiting list are invited periodically for an initial examination from the team.
The reception of children in Karin Dom's therapeutic programme is performed based on the following criteria:
- Residence in Varna Municipality (related to the State Delegated Work of the Center).
- Children, who do not benefit from other special education or social activities in the Municipality (specialized centers for children, centers for work with children with special needs, speech therapy centers, recourse centers or paid specialist's services) are also treated with priority.
- In relation to Karin Dom Foundation's policy for early intervention for children with special needs children aged between 0 - 3 are accepted with priority.
Karin Dom offers paid packet service to children who are residents in places, other than Varna Municipality. This includes therapy, development of both individual assessment and home-based programme.
Parents fill standard application for the participation of the child in the therapeutic programme of Karin Dom.
Parents submit all available documentation and examinations related to the child's health conditions during the team's initial investigation of the child.
Team of specialists (according to the child's needs): pediatrician, social worker, special pedagogue, clinical psychologist, speech therapist, physiologist, occupational therapist observe the child and fill a medico - social questionnaire.
In the case of non specified diagnosis children are referred to external specialists - neurologist, psychiatrist, orthopedist, etc.
After the initial observation the following are discussed:
- Child's condition and needs;
- The necessary therapy;
- The specialists who will perform the therapy;
- Child's individual schedule for visits.
