Early Intervention Trainings
Karin Dom is organizing Early Intervention Trainings as part of the Early Intervention programme the foundation has been working on since December 2010.
Early Intervention Training Module
The training includes topics which incorporate theory with practical examples, such as: videos, photos, role plays, and case studies. Participants also have the opportunity to discuss cases from their own practice.
The topics covered in the trainings are as follows:
1) Family centered approach in the work with children with special needs and their families.
Duration: 2 hours
2) Typical and atypical development of children from 0 to 6.
Duration: 8 hours
3) Characteristics of conditions that may be apparent from early childhood: Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Autistic Spectrum Disorders, learning difficulties, epilepsy, and multiple disabilities.
Duration: 8 hours
4) Work in partnership with parents:
- Values and beliefs
- Cultural differences
- Building relationships
Duration: 3 hours
5) Work in partnership with parents:
- Engaging families. Empowerment
- Challenging situations
- Effective communication with families
Duration: 4 hours
6) Home visits – the heart of early intervention
Duration: 2 hours
7) Assessment of child development – the process, resources, objectives, and types
Duration: 4 hours
8) Developing an individual family service plan. Goals and priorities of the family; how to include the family in decision making.
Duration: 3 hours
9) Monitoring and evaluation of an early intervention programme – measuring the impact, indicators of success, and tools for collecting and studying information.
Duration: 2 hours
